The interview process is always nerve wracking. For Disney it's unimaginable. I flew out to California by the grace of my parents, and my birthmother and I got a hotel for the night. One huge thing I was concerned about was what to wear. A normal interview would be a nice simple modest dress, some dress pants maybe.. but for Disney. Don't you want to look young at heart and full of joy? Yeah. That's what I thought. I decided on a bright yellow, knee length, lace dress. Much more bold than a regular interview, and I expected the other interviewees to be wearing something similar. I was wrong. While in the waiting room of the Disneyland Casting center, which by the way has a huge BEAUTIFUL mural of the castle, the other girls I saw had nice conservative blouses, slacks, etc. I felt so out of place. But in reality, I was in the perfect place for this attire.
The interview was pretty regular, and although I had a million butterflies, when it ended my interviewer, Marge, smiled and said how well I did. She proceeded to tell me how perfect I am for the job, and that she would hire me right on the spot!!!! But..... I was still in school. And wouldn't finish for another month. They needed someone to fill the position at the Disney 365 Studio right now. Everything was happening so fast that I wasn't quite processing all that was going on. Basically she gave me a little blue paper with a Mickey head that said I was on a waiting list. If nothing opened up in the positions of my choice within the next 6 months I would be taken off the waiting list.
I left the building feeling good! But still a little confused about what exactly to tell everyone. Did I get the job? Did I not? There wasn't a clear answer. It wasn't a huge disappointment but yet.. there were unanswered questions. The next 6 months were going to be agonizing.
Oh and btw... excuse my whale like figure in this picture. Bad angle but unfortunately it's the only body shot I have of my dress and I wanted everyone to know what I wore in case they are just as worried as I was :)
I had a wonderful time with my birth family at Downtown Disney the rest of the day!
