The disney audition page is different from the career page, but I had heard about it a while ago and decided to check it out one day. There was an audition the coming weeked for face character girls 4'11'' to 5'2'' !!! Oh and I'm a shortie. So this was perfect! I went home from work that day and was watching my favorite: Flip or Flop on HGTV. They were in Yorba Linda and that was where the audition was being held. I brought it up to my mom and she immediately said I needed to go. The issue was with getting my shifts at work off, but luckily my boss was very understanding and I was headed off Saturday afternoon! This time I drove and picked up my friend Aubrey on the way. It's a very long 12 hour drive from Logan to Anaheim so it wasn't a small endeavor. I stayed with my birth grandma in Palm Sprigs that night and woke up at 6 the next morning to go to the audition.
Palm Springs is about 2 hours away from Yorba Linda and I arrived at aboouuttt.. 8? Maybe? I should've remembered more specifically so I could help you guys out more! But the audition was set to start at 10:00 I believe.
What I wore: I debated on wearing leggings or a dress but after talking to my mom and watching a million and a half YouTube videos I decided on a comfy red dress, some shorts underneath, I had my hair back in a cute headband and straight down, and I took character shoes with me. If I had the chance to change what I wore, I would change a few things. Since it was a short girls face character audition I don't think I needed to wear the character shoes with the small heel. I think maybe jazz shoes would've made me look smaller in this situation. I'm about 5'1'' by the way. I also wouldn't wear the headband because it looked a lot like Alice and even though I would LOVE to be friends with Alice I've heard to not categorize yourself to a certain character so the cast members can decide who THEY see you as. My make up was simple but I still wanted to look good so I wore foundation, very thin top eyeliner, extremely light eye shadow and I did go pretty bold with the lips to match my dress.
When I arrived at the dance studio there was a little bit of a line. We waited for maybe an hour and I met some super nice girls. While we were in line a man came up to us with a cast member and it was one of the girls husband. He ended up getting to be friends with Captain America!!!
We got called in early because the men's audition went by pretty quick. I was in the first group of 50 that went in at around 9, so an hour before we had expected. They put us in rows of ten across a small dance studio with a number at the top of each line. The cast members were so sweet!!! They turned on Disney music and reassured us that if we didn't get in, it wasn't because of us. They just might not be looking for what we have at the moment.
At this point they went across the first line of ten and stood in front of each person with a clip board. They simply asked what your name was and introduced themselves as well and then walked on to the next person. At the end of the row they would call out numbers and the rest were dismissed. When my row got to the front I think I was number 3. They came by, I said my name, smiled, and they went on. I got cut at this round unfortunately. They called 1,4 and 10. Number 4 was the girl that was the wife of 'Captain America' so I think they wanted to include her with his career as well! She was a small petite Asian girl and so so so cute. I'm glad they gave both of them the opportunity so they can work together.
After that I was dismissed with the other girls and left! I was out at 10 am, the time my audition was supposed to start! But I wasn't really discouraged. I've heard you have to try many times. It was a fun little trip all in all :)
If you have ANY questions please let me know! I know how much I watch YouTube videos and read blogs before I go to an audition so I totally understand. I would love to help you guys out with anything I can!
